EnBW AG (Energie Baden-Württemberg AG) is one of the largest energy supply companies in Germany and Europe. EnBW is looking back at a history of over a century. It is a publicly owned, in fact a community-owned company, with a workforce of around 24,000 employees. As a fully integrated energy company, EnBW Group operates along the entire value chain, from generation and trading, to renewable energies, grid operations and sales, focusing on offshore wind, solar energy and hydropower.
Since 2013, EnBW has realigned our entire company in response to the fundamental changes brought about by Germany’s Energiewende (“energy transition”). We have radically transformed our business portfolio by significantly expanding our renewables, grids and sales businesses, embracing our new motto: “Energiewende. Sicher. Machen.” (“Energy Transition. Safe. Hands on.”). With our EnBW Strategy 2025, released in 2020, EnBW is transforming itself into a sustainable and innovative infrastructure partner, focusing on sustainable power infrastructure, system-critical infrastructure, and smart infrastructure for customers.
EnBW aims to achieve climate neutrality by the end of 2035. This includes a clear-cut plan to implement a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030, replacing coal with climate-neutral gases and green electricity, while increasing investment in renewables, as well as sustainable and innovative infrastructures.
In recent years, EnBW has developed business units not only in Germany, but also in Northern Europe, Central Europe, France, Turkey, the USA and the Asia Pacific. The main focus of our activities in these regions will initially be in developing renewable-energy projects up to the stage where they are ready for construction.
